Extended Opportunity Programs and Services
 

EOPS is a state-funded student services program. The program's purpose is to provide special recruitment, retention and transition services (not available through the regular college student services program) to educationally and economically challenged students.

Who is eligible? You may be eligible to receive EOPS services if you meet ALL of the following criteria:

  • You are a resident of the state of California, as determined by the Admissions Office.
  • You are (or plan to be) a full-time student.
  • You qualify to receive a Board of Governors Waiver A or B.
  • You have not completed 70 (or more) units of degree applicable college coursework. This includes courses taken at other colleges.
  • You are determined to be educationally challenged by meeting any one of the following criteria:
a. You do not qualify to enroll for the minimum level English or Math courses required for your degree objective.
b. You have not fulfilled the requirements for a high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED).
c. Upon graduation from high school your high school grade point average (GPA) is 2.5 or less on a 4.0 scale.
d. You have been enrolled in a class, course or program that is considered to be developmental or remedial.
e. You have been enrolled in an English as a Second Language (ESL) class or program.
f. In the judgment of the EOPS director, using state guidelines, you are determined to be educationally challenged.
