The San Diego
Community College District is charged with educating all adults 18 years
of age and older in the City of San Diego. The district provides that
education at several levels, from adult basic education through sophomore-level
college degree programs.
Admission to San Diego
Community College District colleges is open to anyone meeting one of the
following criteria:
- Persons who possess
a high school diploma or California high school proficiency exam certification
or GED with an average score of 45 or higher.
- Persons 18 years
of age or older, or emancipated minors who do not possess a high school
diploma or equivalent, may be admitted by the college under provisional
admissions status.
- High school students
requesting concurrent enrollment may be admitted as "special part-time"
students subject to the following criteria:
a. Verification of high school grade point average (GPA)
as stated in Policy 3000
b. Is qualified for the course based on the required preparation
as certified by the high school principal;
c. The requested course is UC/CSU transferable or advanced
technical;
d. The requested course is not available at the school of attendance.
- Persons under 18
years of age who do not have a high school diploma may be admitted as
"special full-time" students pursuant to Education Code 48800.5
with approval of the high school governing board and the college President
where the student is planning to attend. Special full-time students
will be admitted under provisional admissions status.
Persons who do not
meet one of the admission criteria stated above will not be admitted under
any circumstances.
All new students must file an application with the college admissions
office. At that time, students will receive the information necessary
to complete the registration process.
Transfer students
seeking an associate degree or a certificate of achievement and students
receiving financial aid or veterans benefits must file official transcripts
of all previous college work.
